I haven't acutally revisited yet, but just opened up some archived folders to see if any unprocessed shots were worth reopening and given a bit of B&W treatment. Still planning to return to the area early next year though - can't wait.

Nice shots DP. It's one of those place which require spare battery & cards.

You SE Asia B&W seem to have nice tones. What is it you do in PP for this?

I went in 2002 but had my camera stolen so just took a roll from a disposable. Pity since I only saw 1 other tourist all day I'm going again this summer - wonder if it's changed

I'm using the original RAW file into Photoshop, and firstly using Nik Software's Colour Efex. In this is use the Pro Contrast and/or Tonal Contrast presets and tweak to suit the output I require.

I'm then using Silver Efex to convert to B&W. Occasionally I'll use one preset, tweak to taste and brush it into the areas I want in the colour file before using a second preset for the rest of the image. Otherwise it's just the one preset, tweaked to taste, adding a colour filter and vignette if required

OK thanks. I'm just getting to grips with LR3, but I have PS somewhere so I'll give it a try.

Am I right in thinking that if you undid the B&W conversion in these and replaced the colour it would look very odd?

Some will look odd - bumping up the contrast doesn't help the colour, but brings out the texture in B&W nicely.

@Phil, Any chance to post in colour for comparison.

I'd have to reprocess the shots - I processed as colour originally, with the final step being to use Silver Efex. To get the textures as I'd like for the B&W, the last colour file before the switch to monochrome looks slightly over the top contrast wise.

OK, I thought you may have already processed them in colour.
