I have an E-510 with kit lenses. I am going to Cambodia for a photo tour and am considering adding new lenses to my kit. I was thinking 12-60mm and/or 50mm........ Any suggestions?

I would recommend the 12-60mm to anyone with an Olympus body if they can afford it - it's fantastic!

I'd second Gordon's suggestion of the 12-60mm. It's very versatile and the quality is exceptional. I would also recommend the Panasonic/Leica 25mm f1.4, which I find is useful for low light situations in places like churches and temples.

Thank you for confirming this. It's a costly lense so I want to make sure. I have been looking online and am a bit confused. My E510 has a 58mm thread however in the specifications for this lense, they talk about "filter" size being 72m??? Is this the same thing as the" thread" ?

Yes, the 72mm does refer to the filter size. If your kit lens is the 14-42, then that has a filter size of 58mm.

I wish I could recommend the 70-300 for longer shots,..but in reality,..it's a take your time lens...and no where near as sharp at 300mm as it is at 200mm..

But it will do a decent macro,and can be useful for head shots and up close small critters.

for what i know and i read around on the net, for a Oly sooner or later u will by an 14-54mm or 12-60mm zuiko, to replace ur kit lens.Both are just great lenses. Maybe the 14-54mm Mk2 is a better investment if u plan to later by a M4/3 body.
70-300mm is a best buy , price/quality ratio.Works fantasticlly on M4/3bodys

but for a prime i suggest u an manual lens:

Industar-61 L/Z-MC 2.8/50 macro if u like macro (great quality low price - 30-45$ used on eBay)

Helios 44-2 2,0/58 M42 (standard 50mm at f2.0 u can find it on eBay for about 20$)
