Just wondering what crop ratio people find they use most.

Do you use mainly the same ratio or do you find you vary it a lot?

Is it about where the image is going to be viewed or do you crop the image to suit its composition?

What do you prefer- to keep the ration the same as the camera produces or do you tend to go to wide screen as default?

I'm finding I keep changing my mind.

Images get used on my blog and on the widescreen of my laptop + some get printed along with magazine articles. I havent been printing many in recent times but I'm starting to feel the urge to do so. Any recommendations?

I just use whatever works for a particular shot.

I tend to keep the standard ratio that is used when you take the photo. After that I do a normal crop :D

I generally keep it the same so that if I need to print from places like snapfish I can without worrying about the photo coming out ok :D

Hi ianganderton,

I find that I get "tired" of all the standard dimensions of photos, so I like to "slice and dice" sometimes, just for the heck of it. Or, to be more specific, I ofttimes find myself composing images with the predefined notion that, if the image is decent, it will be cropped.

Overall, I probably crop mostly to make image 16:9 or even wider.

Cheers :-)

16:9 or wider... I feel like it's closer to what the human eye see's
