The Tiger Air is the sharpest of the in-flight shots, noticed the speed is 1/1000s for this one. It appears your camera is selecting apertures from f5.6 and below, From what I understand f8 is the sharpest point on most lenses. Shooting in-flight needs a bit of practice in panning and soft/out of focus looking shots could be caused by slow speed camera shake. Definitely an improvement on your last posting. 8)

The Tiger A320 was shot in P mode about to touch down on the runway. I experimented with the other aircraft but I still think I can get a lot better results with practice.

Do you think the images are coming out a little soft because of the aperture the D3000 is selected?

I'm planning on going back in a few weeks and this time I'll just shoot in A mode with a aperture of f7>

Is there a rule of thumb when it comes to A mode for your f numbers?
