I'm looking for a specific focus checking tool, but I can't remember what it was called and consequently searches have proved less than useful. It is similar to Lens Align but cheaper. It was made by an existing photo brand company but I can't remember which one!

In case anyone is curious, I just did informal testing with the 600D and it seem better than the 7D or 450D with my fast primes in AF. I'm tiered of running around looking for bits to cobble together a DIY solution. I know there are flat test charts freely downloadable, but they're not easy to set up well.

That looks like it! Thanks... now to see how badly priced it is locally...

Ooh, I haven't come across that specific one before. I had decided against buying one in the mean time. £60 for a bit of rarely used plastic seemed excessive.

Instead I have started designing my own folding one but more in the style of the Lens Align system inclusive of alignment holes. I'm not a fan of the ones requiring the camera to be 45 degrees to the horizontal, as you introduce another variable in the setup. I prefer a vertical target with slanted ruler approach as it is a lot easier to set up and move around.

have you seen this one?
I may have even got the link from here a while ago. Its bookmarked in my favourites.

I found the bigger two usefull, as long as its all square and properly made with strong paper or cardboard.

That one seems ideal, and makes the one I was designing seem overly complex in comparison, but would still have a potential advantage if I continued with it... not that I have time this weekend to try either.

Radu it works very well with my manual lenses and when focusing with AF lenses you can see the image pop into place or how much AF can miss focus as it will allow you to dial in the extra. But overall very happy with the purchase and will benefit greatly to my Carl Zeiss conversion.
