I recently purchased a Nikon D3100 and need advise on what lenses to get as l got the 18mm - 55mmkit lens wit the body, l am looking into areas of general photography but need a zoom lens for wildlife and motorsports photography. I am on a budget of about $350.

The D3100 does not have an internal focussing motor so you will need a lens with AFS in its name. These lenses have a motor built in. I suggest as a budget option the 55-200 which is equivalent to 300mm at the long end on a camera with an APS-C sensor.
You need a bigger budget to get a decent lens longer than this. The 70-300 AFS VR Nikkor is a good lens which will suit your camera but is a little over budget. Have a look at reviews of the Sigma and Tamron alternatives to see if these will suit. Bear in mind that you will need one with an F mount (Nikon fit).
