Camera Labs

Hi I am traveling from the UK to California on holiday in June taking in The Grand Canyon & Yosemite National Park and I was wandering what type of animals or not that I may get to photograph. This is my first trip to the USA and we will also take in LA, Las Vegas & San Francisco so I really want to get the best from my trip Photography wise so any tips would really be welcome.

I have a 7D with 15-85mm--- 50mm f1.8 & 70-200mm L f4 Should I take all three or leave the 70-200mm L at home.

If I were sightseeing in California, I'd definitely take all three. The 200mm focal length may come in really handy when it's not practical for you to get much closer to the subject.

I had a similar road trip in 2004. We started by flying into San Fran, taking in Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Sacramento (no offense to anyone on the forum from this fine city, but if I didn't have friends that we visited there, I wouldn't have gone!), Yosemite, Mammoth Lakes, Mono Lake (well worth a visit on your itinerary), Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and then back to San Fran on a different loop.

Awesome trip - you'll have a ball. I only had a point and shoot at the time, but if I was repeat the trip I'd take everything I've got. You've got some of the most stunning scenery imaginable that you will be visiting and it's not worth compromising and risking not doing it justice.
