The Casio EXILIM Pro EX-F1 has been launched. The headline features are a 60 fps burst mode (but the buffer fills after just one second) from a "1/1.8-inch
" 6MP sensor and, in movie mode, a recording speed of 300 fps, 600 fps or 1,200 fps as well as a more normal 30/60 fps. No, that isn't a typo: 1200fps, albeit at a reduced resolution of only 336 × 96.

. Reading the specifications this camera seems to have some remarkable features so I think it will be fascinating to read the reviews and find out what, if any, compromises have been made over and above the usual super-zoom issues.
Now, I wonder whether one could remove the glass and use the body as a high frame rate high-def replacement for the webcams sometimes used for planetary/lunar astrophotgraphy as here
