Wow, a successor already when I only got a Canon EOS Kiss X4 last year? Maybe a little too fast. Quite some fancy upgrades too.

Well - now seeing the second upgrade my 500D seems pretty old. Time to upgrade. (Well - I guess the 7D could be the best upgrade at the moment).

The articulating screen is part of the reason I went with Sony instead of Canon. I'm a photographer not an athlete, I shouldn't have to contort myslef into weird positions to get the creative angles I want. So this is not only a good but a necessary improvement in my opinion. What is the list price in dollars?

I honestly think the articulated screen by itself it's plenty enough to justfy the launch of this upgrade. I don't think any 500D owner will rush to the store to get the 600D, but there's no doubt that Canon's entry level have just become a lot more attractive.

In fact, I personally would've loved to see an articulated screen like this one attached to both the 60D and Nikon's D7000, what's more, I simply can't understand why Nikon, after the D5000's screen success, didn't implement it in its new mid-range model.

yeah, that is what Canon thinks too :) more megapixels & another commercial option & there you go! new camera. this time they were lazy enough to not upgrade the megapixels or the design

@Razvan
Then a product upgrade must come with an mind-numbing technological breakthrough or it's not an upgrade at all?

You say it's a commercial option and you're probably right, but it's commercial because people like it, you don't even have to leave this forum thread to find actual people who's chosen a brand based on the camera having an articulated screen.

for me, upgrading = improving, and this is definitively a significant improvement over the previous models.

Wow... stick with your t2i's.... this seems like such a pointless release. Nice if your buying a new camera(for the lcd) and dont already have a dslr, but otherwise... yeah.... :?

3.7 fps still? Well I know it doesn't really matter (I'm happy with my XSi's 3.5) but I was expecting more speed...

To me 60D seems more like a true successor to the Rebel series... I'd call it the new Rebel.

Well, I'm still happy with my XSi, and I'd use my camcorder to film video.

Nikon user here, and I think it looks well smart. Have they changed the texture or coating on the bodies recently? [I'm not that well up on canon models] As they look ... well, nicer, than the older models.

the new wireless flash with video light looks neat too.

I'd almost trade my D90 for one ... almost ;)

Oh no, just when i bought 60D 5 days ago...

Oh well, i probably still would buy 60D anyways, i just love that upper mini LCD, if feels more natural to set things there.

550D is a great camera, but with 600d articulated LCD (ALCD) - who cares about it anymore. ALCD is great thing, had a great opportunities to find it useful (shooting low angles), but i thought it would be nice to have to remove nose smudges ( who wants to get out lcd just to check photos).

The thumb dial is also another thing i would miss on xxxD, as i really got used to it.

But anyway, on a budget, it is a nice thing, that everybody expected.

This is the real issue Canon (and others) face IMO.

How to stay competitive with the onslaught from Panasonic, Sony et al, while not cannibalising sales of upper-end models.

Really, this 600D is straying a long way into the 60D territory, but frequent product releases are necessary to stave off the mirror-less threats.

I'm not terribly excited about the articulated LCD, as it's only useful in the live view mode. I do see it as a nice feature for portraiture with the wireless flash control and the camera on a tripod.

Canon has pushed the APS-C sensor to it's highest level, so I'm not surprised they continue with it. Nothing else is as good, nevermind better.

What I'd really like to know is how well it focuses. Every Rebel series camera I've owned or tried has been inferior to my 20D and the two 30D's I've owned in that respect, using the same lenses. That makes me very nervous about getting a 550D or 600D (T2i or T3i) to replace the 30D. :(

I'd really like some feedback on focus accuracy with those cameras. :?

Jerry :D
