A is for ANT

I was so preoccupied focussing on the middle peg that I didn't see the ant climbing on top!

The letter "O", not only the big one but lots of little ones as well.

Full details at this initial post but subsequent iterations, and as a result further posts, were needed before the version above was reached.

Bob.

Gotta love yoga girls for making human letters!

Lighting is done with an Alienbees B800 upper-right with silver-bounce umbrella, and an Alienbees B800 with 30degree grid and lavender gel firing at the model's back. There is a 40" silver disc reflector below the model to reflect back under her face. Triggered with cybersyncs by cyber commander.

"J" for Mr. Johnnie Walker!

Image

Who wouldn't love some?

Was cleaning up the glasses after last night's party binge and I happen to notice the Johnnie Walker symbol. And at that moment, I experienced something which alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity.

So, took a picture of it for this months assignment.

This is my first submission and hope u guys like it. Any C&C are welcome.

L is for Love.

Bright Light Neon Love
Image

This effect was NOT Photoshopped. It was created writing out the letters in mid-air with an LED and a 4 second exposure

Camera Model: Canon EOS 7D
Lens: EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Focal Length: 28mm
Aperture: 3.5
Shutter Speed: 4"
Sensitivity: 125 ISO
Post processing: Minor color/contrast adjustments

I froze the movement with the built-in flash though I tried to utilize an el cheapo strobe light from Wal-mart first to try and get multiple exposures of the writing but it turned out not to be bright enough.
Background was lit with a Strip Blacklight.

The most tricky part was getting the letters positioned where we wanted them in the shot.. Had to retake it several times till we got something we were happy with.

Five Yuns

Image

A couple of years ago I used to study Chinese calligraphy. For this month assignment I've decided to refresh the skills and got my old brush out of the drawer.

On my photo you see the following (starting from the top and moving clockwise: metal, earth, fire, water, wood.

And here is an explanation:
Through observation, ancient Chinese learned that every thing in universe including the universe itself could be described by using five elements, which are Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, and Earth. These five elements constitute the universe and they interact to each other. The relationships between these five elements form the Five Elements Theory. These five elements are also called five Yuns in the Constitution Theory of the Traditional Chinese Medicines.

Oh and exif info:
Aperture priority: f4
ISO 400
PP: Blacks up in Lightroom
