Not Sure if this is in the correct category but here goes. I have seen various HDR photos on websites and have always wondered how to do it. Is it done with in the camera or is it done using a editing software like Paintshop Pro or Adobe photoshop. I have a Sony A 450 DSLR and Paintshop Pro7 editing is it possible to make HDR images with this equipment ?

It is (in limited way) doable in Photoshop, or Photomatix or Nik HDR Efex, or maybe some other program, as far as I know there is only DR optimizing in camera (Nikon's D-lighting for instance) but in general it takes a software on your PC to do it.

If I remember correctly, the Sony A5xx series have a form of built in HDR, so I would assume it is in the A450 too. It doesn't go the more extreme versions of HDR though. Even if not, you can take images with it suitable for further HDR processing.

PSP7 is rather ancient (I still use it too!), and doesn't have any specific HDR capabilities in it.

Personally I have Dynamic Photo HDR as the most easy to use one. Photomatrix is also a popular option, as is the capability in Photoshop CS5. All have demo versions for download so you can have a play.

Popo, you are right, the a450 does HDR in camera. So it should be explained in the manual how this works.
