I just bought a sony nex 5.
I started recording movie but it wasnt recorded with 50 frames per seconds but with 25 fps. I selected the highest quality and AVCHD 1920 x1080 and imported the .mts file to Adobe Premiere:

And the info displayed:
File Path: F:\soony nex 5 testing\00001.MTS
Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 264.5 MB
Image Size: 1920 x 1080
Pixel Depth: 32
Frame Rate: 25.00
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
Total Duration: 00:02:08:24
Average Data Rate: 2.1 MB / second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0

Everywhere on internet is written that this camera can record with 50 fps (pal) ?
How to enable it?

Hi worlddown,

May I wish you a warm welcome to the CameraLabs forum.

Maybe someone with the camera can confirm this but I had the impression that the NEX-5 shoots 1080i. The "i" stands for interlaced, meaning that it takes two passes to shoot the complete frame. Hence 1080i/50 means you shoot 25 complete frames per second. The note on the bottom of page 8 of the manual implies this (or 1080i/60 depending on region) but it isn't exactly obvious.

Bob.

thanks for the answer Bob.
I thought that with 50 interlaced I could have 50 complete frames.

Is there any 'high speed video' options available in this camera?

I don't think so - I take it you mean something like 120 frames :) ?

Hi einherjer,

May I wish you a warm welcome to the CameraLabs forum.

A very quick Google for the terms "nex-5" and "firmware hack" seems to show that Sony have done a good job in encrypting the firmware so there may not be any third party offerings.

Bob.
