Hi, Is the sony 28mm lens good for night shots with portrait? Is this any better that the 18-55 kit lens or should I get the 50mm F1.8 instead? My primary goal is to do portrait shots during daytime and nightime. Please give me ideas and advise.

I have a sony a33 body..

It's a rebadged Minolta lens as far as I can remember. It's not bad but I wouldn't buy it. If I were you, I'd get a 35mm f/1.8 SAM instead (or a 50mm f/1.8 SAM) :).
