I was curious what the difference is between the normal cs5 and the student edition....other then price obviously. I don't want to get jipped at all on the product for saving money on the student! Please help!

I believe the products are the same.

However (and it's a big one!) You need to provide valid proof that you are a student or teacher before they give you the activation key!

It is true what mirageii said, worst is to lose money on buying a version you will never use because you can not get the key (key is not included in the S&T version).

Yup, it's Adobe's way of hooking you early! I'm still debating what minimal course to go on to qualify for the discount myself :D

what if a friend wants to buy it for me? and she is a student?

also do you know if they still offer it if you show proof that you were a student for 4 years?

You would need to check the small print, but I believe you would need to be a student at the time of purchase. Getting someone else to buy it is possible, but they would be seen as the users in Adobe's eyes, and may prevent them from getting another copy for themselves if they wish for it later.

You are allowed to have a single copy of any version of the Creative suite (so 1 of CS3 and CS4 and CS5) if I am right, but I am not sure about owning different suites within each iteration. The minimum study requirements is being a student in a study that lasts at least 2 years.

Update; I had contact myself with Adobe support. I already owned Production Premium CS3 and was looking to update to CS5 (Web Premium). I asked if I am allowed to own CS3 and CS5, the answer was yes, but I am not allowed to own different versions of each creative suite as a student. So owning Web Premium CS5 I can not buy Production Premium CS5 for instance.

To add, I didnt choose Production Premium CS5 as I dont do much with Video anymore and have more intentions to web design nowadays besides photography.
