There's *always* something newer and better around the corner. You can only count on it being more expensive and not available for a while.
That's moot anyway, as I've ordered directly from Sony. Went got the 15 inch model after all, after playing with their configurator for a while it was just much higher spec for lower cost than the slight size saving of the 14 inch.
I went for a custom VPC-EB3X:
Core i5-460M, 2 core 4 thread, 2.53 GHz turbo to 2.8 GHz
320GB 7200 rpm disk (I'll swap a SSD in myself at some point)
4 GB ram (I'll upgrade later to 8GB for less than it cost for the 6GB option!)
Blu-ray player
15 inch 1920x1080 anti-reflection gloss screen, wide viewing angle. This is what really swung it for me!
ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650
Oh, the keyboard has a number pad too!
All for £776.05 delivered.
Only snag is it's on a 3-4 week lead time, but I got in to get the VAT increase out of the way. The difference a couple % or so makes is insignificant anyway, but its the principle that counts
