Hi,

I seem to get a lot of grain on most shots (400 ISO>) under anything but bright sunlight. Trying the noise removal with Canon DPP software only softens the image and makes it blotchy when viewed under 100% size.

Can someone tell me if the ALO or Highlight optimize / noise reduction menu items ? Any relevant menus that might reduce this noise that im getting.

Could you perhaps post some examples? Also include other information, such as lens and camera settings.

With all those 18mpixels,the T2i still has a better sensor than my old CCD. So ISO 400 should look very nice. And ISO 800 should be usable. Can you show some examples?

Define "lots"? Every camera degrades as the ISO setting gets higher. If you need ultra-clean images you need to keep the ISO low or use noise reduction and resulting possible sharpness loss.

ALO might increase noise in shadow areas. Highlight priority mode will increase noise too as it is in effect underexposing the shot and recovering in post.
