Hi all,

I recently went on an amazing trip to Bali and one of the Gili islands off the main island of Lombok.

Below is the link to my flickr page that shows some of the photos that I took. It was the very first time I had taken an SLR overseas and had spent a month before the holiday to learn how to use it. I learnt so much from this forum and it certainly gave me a lot more confidence to use the camera. For a newbie, I was quite happy with the results.

Happy to hear any comments, good or bad.

Thanks

PS. Tried the follow the instuctions to post the images in this post, but without success. Sorry!!

OK - now you're making me jealous - I was due to go there for 2 weeks in September before a family (pet) illness! Grr!

I have travelled a lot in South East Asia but I've definitely fallen in love with Bali and it's people.

I've been holidaying there now for the last three years and it's an amazing place to visit. For me, taking photos with an SLR has brought Bali's colours alive.

Maybe not the best photos from a compositional and creativity point of view but certainly a lot more memorable for me than my previous visits to Bali.

Any advice on how to improve the photos will be greatly appreciated. The photos are all JPEGS straight from the camera.

Thanks

Some lovely images jzzdhillon & as you say, amazing colours.

You stayed at Kuta? (most Aussies seem to) I stayed in Sanur a few years ago, it was much quieter & less expensive then.

I was blown away with the many processions of `offerings` to temples. (AND the beautiful women! )

Thanks for the pics, they really jogged my memory ...... & also now got me wanting to return. 8)

Photographers that want to improve their skills care :)

At first glance, all I can see is that you need to try to keep the horizon straight. Some of the pictures are clearly crooked, namely 9 and 11 from the first batch and 1,3 and 5 from the second batch.

Other than that, they look fine. Kinda standard(ish) travel photography, although I know I wouldn't have done any better. It takes a lot of skill to take awesome images while actually enjoying the trip :)
