I've just got back in from 48 hours in Zurich. I managed to slip into town last night for a few shots around the centre of town. Here are the first few:

Another interesting set Phil and very sharp, Europe is great for architecture photography.

Cheers

Great compositions.

Next time, you can take the cablecar from Central to the ETH and have a great uphill view of the city. Or even better, take the train to Uetliberg, nothing beats the view from there:

Just a comment on your 3rd photo:

Did you know that the horse's hooves indicate how the rider passed on? If the horse is on all fours, the rider died later by an unrelated cause to battle. If the horse has one hoof raised, the rider died later due to complications from the battle. Finally, if the horse is on its hind legs, the rider died in battle.

The more you know :)

Thanks for that, Trevor - I'd never heard of that bit of trivia before!

I guess the guys that built the statue of General Dufour in Geneva did not know about that convention, because the general died peacefully in his home at the age of 88...

oops!

I'll be heading over for longer around Christmas, so I'll be able to do a bit more exploring. My brother and sister in-laws live just off Forchstrasse, so on the opposite side to Uetliberg, and I think there's a furnicular railway from there leading up the opposite mountain for some nice views as well - I'll have to get google earthing...!
