Hi folks,

There are rumours that Pentax may be launching the K20D with a press conference on January 24th. Specifications may be:

• Pentax Proprietary 14MP CMOS Sensor
• 14 bit RAW A/D Processor
• 3″ Live View LCD
• Improved In-Body Shake Reduction
• Body Design Similar to K10D
• Significant Custom Functions (including AF trimming/programming for different lenses)
• PC Sync

There are also some rumoured specifications for a K200D:

• 10MP Sensor from Sony
• PRIME 12-bit Image Processor
• 3 FPS (10 Max RAW; Infinite JPEGs)
• Larger LCD (3 inch?)
• 11 AF Points

Personally, I would take the above with an even larger pinch of salt than usual as the original source (Chinese) is no longer available. Does anybody have any further information?

The good news will be for potential K10D purchasers. With K20D coming up, K10D prices will go down.

So more photographers will discover how good is the K10D .

Only possible surprises: the price-tag of the K200D compared with the K10D's one; the handling of SDM lenses and a short list of other technicalities.

Personally, I don't plan to switch from my current K10D: I'm very happy with it and the learning curve is worth taking more pictures with it.

I rather prefer to purchase improved lenses, as I did with the DA* 50-135mm, worth the price
