UPDATE: 1ST FEB 2008

Submissions for January's Assignment have now closed!

You now have until midnight GMT on 21st February to vote for your favourite!

Hi folks,

I've been tasked with creating the thread for January's submissions so borrowing heavily from Gordon's template last month here goes...

The theme for this month is 'Love' as suggested by luis, who won the November competition. As always, please exercise good judgement on what is suitable for the forum.

Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any particular challenges in doing so.

We're all enthusiasts here, so it's also great to see what equipment you used and the settings too. So please also include the following:

Camera Model:
Lens and focal length:
Aperture:
Shutter Speed:
Sensitivity:
Post processing:

Submissions will close at midnight GMT on 31 January 2008. The final poll will follow.

Please remember this thread is for submissions only and that posted images should be around 500 pixels on their longest dimension. If you'd like to comment on any of the submissions or ask any questions, please do so in the January 2008 comments thread!

Thanks and good luck!

Bob.

Canon Rebel XTI (400d)
Shutter- 1/5"
F/stop 4.0
ISO 400
Lens 70-300mm Tamron set at 70mm
No PP
Shot with tripod

OK, this was hard. I need to get a smaller lens for this. I was about 15 feet away to take this. When I think "LOVE" I think romance, so I set this up to have the feel of a romantic night in. the gold in the shot is dark dove chocolate shaped like harts. I also wanted this to have a very warm feel. The card say's "to my wife with love always and forever"
I am single
Please comment as this is my first assignment, and put alot of thought into this shot. 8)

Hello to you all - having been keenly following Cameralabs and its forums for months now, I've only now ventured making my first post when I saw this month's challenging assignment. Here's my contribution:

EDIT: I've removed this image.

Love beyond words.

Camera Model: Nikon D40
Lens and focal length: Nikkor AF-S 55-200 VR handheld at 55mm
Aperture: f/7.1
Shutter Speed: 1/25S
Sensitivity: ISO200
Post processing: Enhanced contrast and curves before turning down saturation and applying sepia photo filter. Finally cropped to enhance the heart-shape formed by the subjects'.

Edit: This was taken as street photography, and was a candid.

OK, here's my not-so-serious entry:

Image

Camera Model: Nikon D80
Lens and focal length: Nikkor 18-200 VR handheld at 20mm
Aperture: f3.8
Shutter Speed: 1/100
Sensitivity: ISO640
PP - crop, levels, curves, saturation, contrast, noise ninja

My representation of l'amour is my dog's love for food....whatever it is...wherever it is :)

This was taken at a local park. The white bird is a Snowy Egret, which is a land bird that enjoys marshy wetlands. In contrast, the black bird is a Cormorant, which is a water bird that "fishes" in lakes and in the ocean. When I first arrived at the park, the Egret was sitting alone preening. As I watched, something darted about the water like a miniature Loc Ness monster. It was the head of the Cormorant! Shortly, he jumped out of the water and took a perch beside the Egret. After an hour of assessing each other, they both settled down to what looked like courting -- at which point I snapped this shot. True love?

D50, 70-300mm VR @ 300mm
Shutter: 1/2000
Aperture: f/8
ISO: 400 (I think)
Cropped, sharpened and increased contrast.

I can't think of anything more pure than the love between a mother and child.

Aperture: f/1.8
Shutter Speed: 1/200th
Sensitivity: ISO200
Post processing: Adobe Lightroom 1.3, cropped, contrast, high contrast B&W conversion.

Additional notes: Shot in Manual mode wit two Speedlite 580EX's behind the subjects and an ST-E2 wireless transmitter

This is my Daughter. Next time I see her in a dress like that she will be getting married

Taken with a Kodak cx7256 5 mil pix on full auto "happy snapper" camera
Because sometimes it catches what my canon cant.

The sun shining in on her must have felt like God was really giving his Love to her that day.
