Local league here in the midwest, pics are from a night tournament that was held. My night ones didn't come out good so here are some of the evening ones.

C&C most welcome.

Would love to hear what you think.

Most settings are as follows:
* Canon Xsi / 70-300 @ 300 / Full Auto (I know that's a sign of an amatuer) :oops:

Hello ps_n_dslr
Very nice shots, they're really great for auto mode, don't worry we all started with the auto mode.
Next time try these settings if it's a sunny day
AV mode
small f-number about 5.6
ISO 100-200

Looking forward to see them

Cheers

lowliferider, thank you for the feedback, this weekend, I did try some manual shooting - first time ever. I didn't try the particular settings u mentioned as it was very dark. But iso 1600, 7.1 even then I was getting blurry shots.

When it's dark you'll need a strong flash (built in flash might be too weak), or AV+/- to +2, iso 800/400
shutter priority mode at least 1/50 or faster (the faster the shutter speed is the less light gets in) you'll need to try different shutter speed and ISO.
Don't worry you'll get it right with experience and time. Don't forget keep trying with different settings (shutter speed, ISO)

Nice work :)

I've faced Adam Sandford in a tournament over here (uk) in 2004! He was rapid!!!!

Manual shot - tried for the first time to shoot in manual.

Thanks spunky, yes, he was the fastest I have seen in person from that distance.

could you post the settings, a tad too much noise in my opinion.
You can be happy of the result, seems like it was pretty dark when you took that photo.
You really need better lighting...

The earlier one was full manual 5.6/7.1 @ 300 iso1600.

Will try to get the exif info for that.
But here' a full auto:

Though funny thing was that the 35mm equivalent would be 480 but the picasa info said 900. Bummer!

Loving the last one!!!

Shots like that always capture the action perfectly imo

I take it your out in Antigua then ps_n_dslr ?

I might be touring out your way next year. One of the clubs i play for has an opportunity to go to the BVI which would be awsome!

Thought you might like to see a few of the cricket pics i managed to get last year!

Spunky, I am a little north of Antigua (though I would love to be in the Carribbeans). I am in the Chicagoland / Midwest area in US. Nice pics on your post - seems like you play w/ and shoot semi-pros / pros often.

Lowliferider, thanks for the comments, trying to see if the batsman would sign a release ;-)

Have a few more from the continuation of the game and then another game this weekend.
