A 50mm lens is nice to have. If you are not sure about it, just take the 1.8 which has a great image quality and is still "payable". The point is: If you have zoom lenses AND a 50mm you won't be bothered by not being able to zoom the 50mm as you could change the lens if you really needed to zoom.

I have been reccomended a 70-200 mm f/4 USM IS and a 1,4 TC. Would it be a good choice?
It will save me some money and some weight, but if it doesn't do the job for me, then it's a waste of money

Well it's a couple of years ago now, but I ended up with 7D, 10-22mm, 15-85mm and 100-400 mm and a manfroto 055 tripod with a ball head.
The 7D was a bit overkill for me at first, but it as I learned the features, it turned out to be perfect.
The only regret is the 15-85 mm wasn't very good in low light and we do have a lot of that in arctic winter. So I bought the 17-55 mm f 2,8 and absolutely loved that lens. The price was loosing from 55 to 100 mm, but it really didn't bother me that much
The 100-400 mm haven't used it as much as I had hoped, but for whale watching where you have a split second to get the picture, you can zoom very fast with the push-pull system, and that's really a nice feature, as well as the high frames per second. On other cameras you tend to get the image just before and just after when the tail shows just perfect.
And I bought a timer for time-lapse and remote shooting. I bought original canon, but a dog ate it, so I bought a new unoriginal, and it works just as well only much cheaper - I would NEVER buy an original again.

AND a pol filter, wich proved absolutely essential.

Much later I bought a 50 mm f 1,4 and at first I regret having bought it because I lost the zoom capability, but I actually came to love it and that's where I really understood why people talked so much about f's.

That was pretty much it, so apart from the 15-85 mm and buying original timer, it turned out pretty well.
