Just looked up my hotel location. It's located next to a park with lake (haarlemmermeerse bos?), so maybe I can find some ducks there to keep me company :)

Ducks are never far away. They're everywhere.

What a powerful tool the internet is. Haarlemmermeerse bos? Goddit.

Looks like you're staying at the 'Courtyard Mariott Hotel'. Or at the 'Bastion Hotel'. Who can keep secrets nowadays. Where will it end?

I went the other way. I looked up the hotel and saw the park next to it :P

I'm in the Courtyard... nowhere near a train station, but since looking there does seem to be a bus service from hoofddorp every 10 minutes so not too bad if I can figure that out.

Ok, weather report shows very high probability of rain all tomorrow. So I'd like to officially kill the meet. If I don't have to swim too, I'll just check out the park in the evening... time to get packing!

I'm afraid popo and the weather gods are definitely not on speaking terms today. :(

I guess the only photos we'll get to see will be of wet ducks.

I fired off a few but I doubt any will be worth posting :P

Long day is long. I underestimated how quick I could get out of the office. Got to hotel and the rain eased off enough for me to have a quick walk in the park. There is what I think is a heron near the hotel car park, and probably coots in the park's lake. That's all. Will pixel peep them later as 20mm at that range isn't going to be much good...

I'm about to decontaminate myself from the day's travel then hit the restauraunt. Need food!

The weather report was correct though... It just keeps on pouring!

Yup, being outside isn't fun right now. Time to hit the hotel restauraunt! I wonder if my boss will sign off beers on expenses...

And popo, how's the life in Amsterdam?
If I had known that you have come to A'dam, I had been comming too.

But the weather isnt as beautiful as you might think, but it's the whole summer the same here.

Even though I have an evening, the timing is rather tight to do anything really. I'll see if in future I might be able to get a longer stay, overlapping a weekend (often that can get cheaper airfares to help them agree :D)

I found a beer :)

Image

Dunno how this pic will come out as I'm using my work laptop which has very little image editing softwre on it... and a lousy monitor too! Image totally changes depending on viewing angle...

Since the exif is probably lost, this was E-P1, Pana 20mm f/1.7 1/25s ISO1600.

Besides the noise it's a bit on the dark side and the white balance is probably not optimal. It's a bit too reddish. Apart from that...

CHEERS! :D

did you use the steady shot, what about the iso 200 or 400 (I'm just guessing)
Looks really good, could be better if it had some condensation on the bottle.

I should point out the bottle was empty by the time I started taking many photos of it :P I did manually lower ISO for other shots, but forgot to on that particular composition. Light in the hotel restauraunt was very low, both in level and colour temperature. I'll probably give this another edit when I get a real computer... until then, can't you say the noise gives it character? :D

The restauraunt has several beers. I asked for a local one and they first offered Heineken, but it is rather common (I can easily get it at home) so I thought I'd try Jopen instead...
