Have never been a fan of HDR, but it works nicely for video. One of the few times I can say I actually like it! :)

Edit: I agree with popo by the way, it didn't look good for people shots. At all.

Looked ok on the cityscape, but I didn't like the effect on the person. They need to tame the haloing!

Yeah by the sound of things it's a reasonably complex setup. Single lens with a beam splitter (half silvered mirror) to send the light to the two cameras. Must need some careful aligning.

I guess video HDR is no different to stills - it often looks terrible on people, but looks good on landscapes.

I agree though, it is only really for creative use - like how A Scanner Darkly used rotoscoping. As long as it doesn't become the next gimmick (I'm looking at you 3D), then I have no problem with it.

I absolutely hate this video for getting so popular.

The tone-mapping is horrible! It's going to turn people off from HDR video...

It always looks terrible on people but I'm past my HDR phase now and I think it looks bad as a whole. I'm not sure what the original intentions were but I guess it was done as proof of concept.

How did they get two cameras to simultaneously record the exact same footage from the same angle ?
