I've been tasked with creating the thread for January's submissions so borrowing heavily from Gordon's template last month here goes...

The theme for this month is 'Love' as suggested by luis, who won the November competition. As always, please exercise good judgement on what is suitable for the forum.

Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any particular challenges in doing so.

We're all enthusiasts here, so it's also great to see what equipment you used and the settings too. So please also include the following:

OK, this was hard. I need to get a smaller lens for this. I was about 15 feet away to take this. When I think "LOVE" I think romance, so I set this up to have the feel of a romantic night in. the gold in the shot is dark dove chocolate shaped like harts. I also wanted this to have a very warm feel. The card say's "to my wife with love always and forever"
I am single
Please comment as this is my first assignment, and put alot of thought into this shot.

Hello to you all - having been keenly following Cameralabs and its forums for months now, I've only now ventured making my first post when I saw this month's challenging assignment. Here's my contribution:

Post processing: Enhanced contrast and curves before turning down saturation and applying sepia photo filter. Finally cropped to enhance the heart-shape formed by the subjects'.

Edit: This was taken as street photography, and was a candid.

My Squidoo lens - Images of China

This was taken at a local park. The white bird is a Snowy Egret, which is a land bird that enjoys marshy wetlands. In contrast, the black bird is a Cormorant, which is a water bird that "fishes" in lakes and in the ocean. When I first arrived at the park, the Egret was sitting alone preening. As I watched, something darted about the water like a miniature Loc Ness monster. It was the head of the Cormorant! Shortly, he jumped out of the water and took a perch beside the Egret. After an hour of assessing each other, they both settled down to what looked like courting -- at which point I snapped this shot. True love?
