Watching them breach was very exciting and definitely challenging to photograph. They are lightning fast and you have no idea when they will breach.
Don't worry about the seal, it was a decoy.
This made it possible to photograph the shark breaching. Not knowing where about the shark will breach makes it almost impossible to photograph. Just to give you an idea of how fast they are, the one day we were about 15 people on the boat (cage diving) when a shark randomly breached relatively close to the boat. Out of the 15 people, only 2-3 people actually saw the giant shark out of the water. The rest just saw the end of the splash. So imagine photographing something too fast to even see...
