Hey Althalus, congrats for your brand new gear!
I just didn't get why you bought the 40-150mm when you are aiming at the 28-300mm?

Because it was cheaper than buying the body only lol. I can cover the cost of the new lenes selling the old one on ebay!

The cheapest E400 body only I can find is £349...

Well I just got the E400 twin lenses kit, 2 hoya UV filters, a bag and a tripod for £359.99. Which means I can get a 28-300 (56-600 on the E400) sigma lense as well and can always sell the body and get a 510 only body to add anti shake if I choose to. Or I have more spending money. Will have to see how i get on!

Thanks for the advice guys, i look froward to showing off some pics when I get back.

You got a good deal there. I was just coming on to let you know I'd seen the E400 at Currys Digital for £349.99 this afternon when I was out shopping.

Hi Phil thanks for the info, the curry offer is what got me looking at the e400 in the first place.
Jessops has a few e400 (2 in the country that I know of) left with zuiko digital compact (new) 14-42mm and 40-150mm at £349.99 (you have to haggle for the rest!) (if anyone is interested) but you need to phone round as they are end of line clearance for the e410. The one in currys at £349 is a single lens kit the twin is £429 and they are the old se lenses from the E500/330 the 17.5-45mm and 40-150mm.

Been out snapping, i`m rather pleased with it for the money. I think I might need a bigger zoom though. I can alway sell the lenses and get something else as they were basically free! Will have to see how it goes.

Time to go play again. :D

Hi Althalus,

Back from Kenya I guess...
Enjoyed your Oly? Actually, I'm in the same situation as you were some months ago: flying to Kenya within 4 weeks, and still looking for a great DSLR.
Satisfied with your E-400 kit? Felt the lack of image stabilisation? If you have the time to post some pictures taken on the safari, I would highly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hi Bodart, welcome to the Cameralabs forums!

If you like the Ollies but want stabilisation, don't forget about the brand new E-510...
