 Post subject: K100d-better than D40?

In low light (with or w/out a tripod) how does the Pentax K100d compare w/ the Nikon D40?
Right now in the US Pentax is offering this awesome rebate for $100 on the K100d, and I am seriously considering it, since it has spot metering, 9 point AF, and build in IS.

I have a D80 & recently bought the K100D Super due to some great reviews & a very reasonable price. I've mated it with the Pentax 18-250mm lens & have been very impressed with this camera. The shake reduction works very well. Nikon makes wonderful cameras, but the price, high ISO performance, and shake reduction built into the body make this camera a blast to use. The price of Nikon's VR lenses made me look at a SLR with body-based stabilization, and the K100D Super w/ 18-250mm lens cost just a bit (with the rebate) more than the 18-200mm VR Nikon LENS. If there is any picture quality difference between my D80 & K100D, it's not discernable to me in 4"x6" prints or when viewed on the computer screen. I hope this is of some help.
