Hi all,

Well i gotta start somewhere so this is my first post here.
This was one of my first pictures with the 400D

Welcome to the forum notsane. Nice lighting except for the part of the flower that is in shadow. Perhaps fire the built-in flash to reduce the contrast a little. You've got some other nice photos on your flickr gallery as well.

Thanks for the warm welcome. About the picture, I was aiming for a goal like that, without the shadows the shot looked quite pale.

Hi notsane. It's a well composed shot, and you've done fairly well with the DOF. However I think it's marginally overexposed in the centre, and underexposed in the top left. But I understand the shadow effect you were aiming for. How did you meter this photo? The centre part of the flower isn't all in focus too.

There's scope for improvement, such as fill-flash which has been mentioned, and perhaps spot-metering a neutral spot on the flower so you don't get blown highlights. But good job. Please keep it up.

I like it too, I just played with adobe lightroom, contrast , shadows and blacks.

use the filter then distort then len corections then diseble the show grit and on vignette make the amount about 90 then click ok that should do it

PS: this is on photoshop cs3 i dont know but it may be the same on other softwar
