Arri and panavision are huge in the film industry.
Never thought about sony, you learn something new everyday.
But theres no doubt a dslr is a very capable tool, but they need to be kitted out with follow focus etc

They are to Film and Filmmaking, what Toyota and Ford is to cars.
Rather hard to overlook.

If you’re into music as most people are, Sony had about 25% of the world market a while back, and I believe they are closer to 30% now, and the top spot.

It doesn’t take much research to see that Sony Corp is the #1 in just about any field of electronics and entertainment.
This is one of the reasons why the other players are always beating on them.
Personally I can’t really blame them, if I was CaNikon last thing I would want is a Gorilla in the room.

I cant say that I have seen DSLRs used to film the daily news or for studio work yet, I dont have a problem with video being filmed on them, but I doubt Id want to use one when there are cameras out there (X / EX / PDW series by Sony) that are designed to be used as a camcorder.

I think the sony broadcast cams are good for news coverage because thats what were used to seeing on tv, we are used to the video look, eg. Large dof and 30p
