Well the wife's away, it's bloody hot and I'm getting stir crazy, so it is time to make a break from Dubai and stay in The Yas Hotel, Abu Dhabi.

This hotel is the focal point to the Yas Marina Circuit, which hosts the last leg of the Formula 1 World Championship season. Famously the track goes underneath the hotel.

It's a bit hot and humid (70% and 42c!) which hasn't helped much!

Anyway, here are my first few shots, before having some dinner. More to come later when I get onto the rooftop bar.

Grr - I'm officially grumpy! The rooftop bar areas by each pool weren't open due to refurbishment before the next grand prix - the hotel's not even 1 year old!!!! So I didn't get the chance to take shots in the best areas.

Here are a few of the minimalist interior:

I've got quite a few more, mortuus. Unfortunately they are renovating everywhere, even though the hotel is less than 1 year old.

Virtually every angle for a good exterior shot included scaffolding, workmen, traffic cones, painters etc etc. It's all too much to clone out, unfortunately.

Also, half of the public areas were closed and the bars on the roof were not open at night which is the best time to go up there, when it's covered in the glowing psycadelic shroud.

I'll go down after the renovations are complete and get plenty more. It's such a photogenic building inside and out, which was very frustrating!
