Nice topic. At least one so called friend suggested a self-portrait.

Looking forward to posting my first "On Assignment" entry!

Great shot to get us rolling DPParis!

Darragh, you have the img tags the wrong way around. It should be [img]at%20the%20start%20and[/img] at the end. Also the url should be the one ending in .jpeg. Just click on "all sizes" on flickr and it will pop up

Darn - I was hoping to do the Sanzhi UFO houses - a badly-located never-used holiday resort from the 70s here in Taiwan that pretty much embodies 'decay'. Unfortunately, the UFO houses embody decay only in the past tense - now they embody 'destruction', but so well as to no longer be there at all or serve as a suitable photographic subject. They had been up for demolition for ages and it never happened but I just read a blog post from someone who travelled out there a month or so ago and all that was left was a few coloured shards of fibreglass along the shore. What a pity, being such a weird eerie location for photography shoots, movies and music videos (supposedly MTV filmed out there). Here's a pretty good Flickr gallery showing what was there. Now imagine that at dusk or with a howling typhoon bearing sheets or rain which is pretty much what comes in from the sea for a good few months every year.

Wow, with heavy rain at nightime I would put that in the "Blade Runner" catagory....

@ Al

No we're not actually  and i've checked his/her other posts and he/she is just copying what was posted 2-3 posts above. Possibly spam, i'm sure the mods will fix it.

"This theme coincides fantastically with this weekend's plans...here's hoping I get some good shots!"

So it turns out that it's difficult to capture the destructive power of 20 warships from 6 different navies when they're decked out in flags and festive stuff...

I've got a back-up plan (or two) though.
