I'm seriously considering splashing out for this lens.
It seems to meet all my requirements and the price isn't too bad.
Any reason I shouldn't get it?
I mostly do product photography at various events with odd lighting.

From what Ive heard it is a great lens. The only reason I would think not to get it, is if you will need a brighter aperture.

Why not add to your collection something brighter, like a sigma 30mm f1.4?

Don't really need a super bright lens. Got myself a flashgun and it's helping a lot even with the kit lenses.

My thoughts are just that this is an upgraded kit lens where as a prime would be something entirely different and let you have a new perspective. Keeping the same lens on the DSLR all the time is just like having a bulky point and shoot in my honest opinion.

Thanks for the samples belong. How do you find the AF speed? I've heard different reports of it being both fast and slow so I'm not sure what to make of that.

Hows this going to compare to the 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM, much difference?
