Does the TZ3 have a tripod socket underneath it? Panasonic's site doesn't indicate so.

Hi Jim, sorry to miss your message. Yep, as you've already discovered, the TZ3 has a tripod thread. But it is plastic and it is right at the end of the camera's base.

If it reasssures you at all, I don't think I've seen a camera which doesn't have a tripod thread other than a disposable one!

My trusty old Sony T1 didn't have one, and I'd rather look at the bottom of the ultra-flat Sonys etc. than guess that they have one...

Thanks Gordon,

Plastic or not it's better to have a place to attached the camera to a tripod than not at all. It just means having to be more careful and not tighten the tripod screw or else the plastic might crack.

The likelyhood of my wife using a tripod for this camera is slim to none so there's not much to worry about. ;-)
