Bought my first prime two days ago, the 50mm f1.8. Hardly upmarket, but not a bad lens.
Had my first proper shoot with it today, and, without exaggerating at all, it was a zen moment. I thought more about the composition of the picture when I had to 'zoom with my feet' and the DOF is lovely. Plus being a music photographer the large appature is ideal as 90% of gigs happen in a dark environment.

Next on the list the CZ 85mm 1.4

I was going to save for the 24-70 2.8 or the 70-200 2.8, but, I have fallen in love with primes.

Congrats! You'll fall in love with it more and more, trust me. I got those lenses you were gonna save up for and only fell in love with primes later... So, spend a lot of money on lenses I don't use much anymore. :D
Oh well, always good to have them!

You'll find the 85mm f/1.4 is a gigantic step up from the 50mm f/1.8. Now I've only had the f/1.8 in my hands once, but I noticed it felt very plasticky. 50mm f/1.4 really is worth the extra $/£/€ for the extra build quality, IMHO. The 85mm though, is just at a whole different level... So solid, so cold, so wonderful. Nearly as good as the 135mm f/1.8.

We'll be looking forward to some of your shots soon!
