Hi!

I was wondering if anyone else ever had problems with filters getting stuck on their lenses...

I've got a Kenko CPL for my 18-200mm lens which I can't remove from the lens. The last couple times my boyfriend was able to remove the filter, but hasn't yet succeeded this time around. I've never had any real trouble removing the UV filter, just the CPL. Any suggestions for removing the CPL filter without breaking it?

Is this an issue just with this particular lens/filter combination? ie both are within QA tolerances, but just happen to be an extra tight fit. If so, then in theory, a different Kenko filter might come off more easily. I haven't yet tried the CPL in the step-up ring I bought for my 50mm lens to see if it's a tight fit there too. If I can get the filter off soon, I'll give it a try.

Would buying a filter of a different brand make a difference? Or might I have the same issues?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!

If and when you do get it off intact, maybe rub a light layer of lubricant across the filter threads? (of the filter I mean)

Ive never had issues so sorry cant help

The problem with using a lubricant is that I'd be worried about it seeping onto the lens somehow, or just in general getting it where I wouldn't want it (ie the outside of the filter).

I should see if the machine shop guys at work have any suggestions.
