My dad gave me his old flash but I haven't a clue how to use it. It's a Soligor MK 24AS... interesting dial on it. Here are some images:







Only the outer dial moves. It has two sets of numbers on it... hmm... anyone know how to use this thing? It works on my Nikon D80, but I also heard you can really damage your camera if it's not the "approved" flash.

I checked this site and found it fires at 37-41 volts...

The reported voltage is 37-41V, and I think the D80 is specced to handle 250 volts.

Still, if you want to be absolutely safe you could use a wireless radio trigger like the cactus (V2/4)

I take pictures so quickly, my highschool was "Continuous High".

Thanks for the tip. I wasn't sure where to find my camera's spec.

But I still have no idea what the dials are used for.. anyone have a clue?

ASA = ISO,

So if I move the dial to 400... I'm assuming that's the setting my ISO should be at.... right?

But then, is the Green indicating my f/stop? I shot some pictures but half was blown out and the other half was underexposed like crazy.

I missed the manual era by a large degree, but my guess is:
If you put the switch to M, you juggle three variables, aperture, ASA and distance. e.g. currently the arrow on bottom is pointing at 20ft. At that distance, you can use ISO400 f/8, or ISO200 f/11 etc...

The red and blue I'd assume are some kind of auto mode but I'm not sure how that works.

The green seems to be the alternative units to white: DIN vs ASA, m vs ft.
