I'm running Ubuntu, and was wandering if I can safely connect my data cable? The PhotofunStudio software does not say Linux compatable.

I have no idea if your version of Linux will see the "device", but I do know
that PhotoFunStudio is released for "Windows Only" on my CD.
Basically I don't use the supplied software, and prefer to use the SD card
directly into my notebook SD slot!

That is what I had always done, just plug the card into my card reader under windows. I did find that the PhotofunStudio, was slow to load when I was useing windows xp media center.
I switched to ubuntu because it has a lot of free open source stuff. And Kdenlive is better than windows movie maker.

I haven't used Ubuntu, but I have used PCLinuxOS GNOME, which should be pretty much similar. There is a program in Linux called WINE, which can run Windows programs on Linux. You can get is from the software support in Ubuntu. However, different applications have different compatibilities with WINE, so no guarantee that if will work.
