yes I can relate.
Getting your flash off camera is a lot easier then people think. If your tired of the sync cord then wireless is the next cheapest solution. I recently picked up a flash stand, umbrella, and bracketing arm for under $100. It works really well for diffusing the light. Your K20D already has a trigger built into its on camera flash to trigger Pentax brand flashes that have a built in wireless slave already. Truthfully if you have a wireless hot shoe adapter then you can use any brand flash with your camera. Check out the Strobist: Lighting 101 blog (

Im not sure where you live but if your in USA you can pick up a hot shoe slave from B&H for $30. This is a shoe you would mount onto an umbrella bracket or a tripod if it has a 1/4 thread.

Im almost certain you can use your pop up flash to trigger it but Id ask the guy at the store to be certain.
