 Post subject: SB600 Diffuser
PostPosted: Sat Jan 02, 2010 8:29 pm
Hi all,

I am considering the purchase of a diffuser for my SB600 flash.

Could you please take a look at diffusers number 1, 4 and 5 at: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Nt ... Search=yes

Why is there such a big price difference between them (in % of cousre), and do I actually need one if all I do is bounce the light for indoor shots and a bit of fill flash outdoors?

Get the pearstone, it's the cheapest. Those things are all just simple pieces of plastic, no difference in them.

The slightly larger ones do NOT offer better light, that's marketing crud. Also, you don't need a diffuser for fill flash outdoors, you'll just waste light that way.

See my post in this thread for an explanation what diffusers do (and don't do) http://www.cameralabs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19645 :)

Also check out my other thread, I figured I'd make one since many people do not know what they exactly do :)

is it possible to get diffusers like the ones that clip on the end of the flash unit? What are these like?

What exactly do you mean Neil? Most diffusers I've seen shove over the flash head?
