I liked the way my neighbor's security light caused tree shadows on my house.
I never expected the dramatic effect that the roof overhang caused by only allowing the moon to show the siding texture on the lower part of the house.

No particular planning went into this, I have only owned the camera for 6 hours and the rain had not long stopped so I decided to go out and take pictures.

I was trying to get the Seeker of a vampire look from him. Shooting with strobe high above really cast dark shadows over his eyes, Perfect for me to work with in photoshop later. So I added eyes for him to boost the dramatic look. done.

Camera Model: Nikon D200

Aperture: f/9.0
Shutter Speed: 1/200
Sensitivity: ISO 200
Post processing: boosted color saturation in lightroom, then sharpen & added eyes in photoshop CS3.

Fuji S9600 - 1/210 - f/3.6 - ISO 80 - EV -0.33 - 35 mm
Shot in RAW. Had in-camera contrast set to 'soft' to protect against clipping.
PP: Increased contrast again.

Earlier this month I took advantage of one of the very few sunny spells (well it was a Sunday :D) we've had amidst all the rain and snow to go cycling looking for some photo-ops to try out the Fuji S9600 I got two weeks earlier, keeping the assignment in mind. When I got to a stretch going West with enough flat surface to my right and saw my shadow cast by the very low late autumn Sun I knew I had to shoot it for the assignment. Quite tricky taking a photo while trying to stay on the narrow path and not fall off yer bike. :? The flip-up/down screen really made this shot possible. It was still quite a challenge to get a level horizon and a half decent composition. Since I liked both titles I came up with I used one as a sub-title for the other eliminating the need to choose. :)

Shot at 14:50 mid afternoon on the 13th. With the Sun only eight days away from its lowest position you can't get much longer shadows than this.

post processing: lightroom 2 - tweaked the temperature and the contrast a lil' bit..

the exposure was -0.7 since i intended to make this an HDR image..but ended up using the lower setting..:)

Shadow of a TreeImage

This photo was taken on my trip to Mumbai, India on Marine Drive. It was 32 degree celsius and I saw few people resting under this tree's shade.

Camera Model: Nikon D5000
Lens and focal length: Tamron 10-24 at 10mm
Aperture: F8
Shutter Speed: 1/500s and 1/4000s
Sensitivity: 400
Post processing: Exposure blending of +2 and -2 exposures. I wanted to capture the sun as round as possible. This wasn't possible without underexposing. Tweaked some color saturation as well.

Post processing: GIMP 2.6.7 on Windows Vista
Cropped and added two "Screen" mode copies of the original layer. Added a layer mask to each of these two Screen-mode layers to block the sky and reveal the (brightened) foreground.
