Hi,

It would help if you told us what your budget is and what you would consider light i.e how many kg or lbs you are ok with carrying around. The recommendations and/or brand wars can pour on from there! jk :P

I mostly do portrait and family photos along with a little bit of hdr but my tripod broke. It was only 80$ and not to stable. I'm looking for a tripod and ball head for about 150-200 of course 200 is if it was really necessary I would like around 175 for everything and it would need to be pretty light weight like 2-4 pounds

Hmmmmm :?

For that price range the best you can do is either a Slik Pro700 DX / Manfrotto 190XB --- both with a Manfrotto 486RC2 ball head.
But its not gonna happen in your weight requirements- it will be heavier by a pound or 2.
