Shadows surpass the boundaries of space, engulfing those within light in a matter time. The strongest light is the shadows ultimate strength. Because of the technological advancements of ancient civilizations, they were able to manipulate shadows to their will to tell time.

This is my first trial and i don´t know if it´s necessary to have a dslr (but soon i will) this picture was taken not very early on christmas day and the city was pretty much dead.

Camera: samsung digimax s600 (program mode)
Lens and Focal lenght: fixed(compact camera) 6mm
aperture: F/2.8
Shutter speed: 1/750sec
Sensitivity: ISO-50
Post-processing: photomerge to hdr on photoshop (3 images) latter converted to jpeg

I don´t know wht´s the fashion on other countries but here in mexico city i you don´t want to get a car parked in front of your garage you just put a couple of buckets full of concrete and a pipe inside them to guard it against unwanted visitors (added to the no-parking advice on the garage door)

Shadows as a theme seemed really exciting when I first read about it. Challenging, and I like a challenge. However, I didn't really have time to come up with a good shot for the theme until Christmas day. Went to visit family, and because it wasn't that much fun, I took my camera to keep myself busy. Ended up taking quite a lot of photos, all in M-mode, in B/W (of course the RAWs were still in color) and having a great time.

My uncle and aunt hang their Christmas cards on a string up near the ceiling. A lamp is all I needed to get some shadows. Didn't think about entering this for the On Assignment till today, but it suits perfectly. Hope you like it!

Hello everyone!

For the first time since I don't know when I am going to participate!

Here is my entry:

The thought was to take a picture that used the shadow to unite two similar things of different size.

Aperture: f/1.8
Shutter Speed: 1/60

Camera Model: Canon 50D
Lens and focal length: EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Aperture: f/11
Shutter Speed: 1/250s
Sensitivity: ISO100
Others: 2 stop ND on lens, off camera Nissin Di622 flash
Post processing: slight crop, levels, highlight recovery

Just wanted the shadows to echo the game of cat and mouse. I had lots of trouble balancing the flash levels - too much light!

Hi All,
It was too cold for a dip that day. These are some local beach huts ready for summer.

Here's my first submission in a while...

Taken with Kenko extension tubes on my 50mm (50mm + 68mm equivalent).

The lighting comes from an external flash behind the flower, pointing at the ceiling, triggered by my camera.

Soft shade

Camera: Nikon D80
Lens and Focal lenght: 50mm prime lens + 68mm extension tubes
Aperture: F/9
Shutter speed: 1/160
Sensitivity: ISO 160
Post-processing: removed some dust
