Bought me a D90 yesterday.

Now I just have to wait for my boyfriend's new computer to arrive so I don't have to borrow his current one to view the photos (my current computer won't read SDHC cards).

Just use the USB cable that came with your D90 and plug the camera into the computer (unless your computer doesn't have USB). The Nikon software should let you do the rest.

The last time I tried using the CDROM, it made weird crazy-loud noises so I'm afraid of damaging the CD. I don't think I'm going to bother trying to install the software on a computer I'll only have for another week or two. I'll just use my boyfriend's (soon to be mine) computer to transfer photos to my USB stick. It's a bit roundabout but it'll do for a couple weeks.

You can download the ViewNX and nikon transfer applications if you're afraid of damaging the CD
I'm quite sure softpedia has them hosted somewhere (they can be trusted).

Hi guys, I m a newbie in this photography world. Anyway, I bought a D90 with its kits lens 2 weeks ago. Its my first DSLR and I m very happy with it....currently I m still slowly learning to use. My primary interest in photography is to shoot some action pics of my other hobby which is Radio control model car racing. I also like to shoot some portraits with bokeh background.

I traded the D5000 that i got for christmas and picked up a D90 yesterday.
It was only $200 more and well worth the jump IMO.
I bought it with the 18-105 and a 50mm 1.8

i love this camera and am very excited to start shooting with it.
Thanks to the whole forum for helping me with the many random questions i asked here

been reading plenty of books and browsing these pages for tips "etc"
for the past couple of months, decided now is the time to buy .
just need to buy a backpack now any recommendations would be appreciated.

I just got my very own D90 with 18-105 VR lens and so far am loving it and cant wait to go to bali in march (which is mainly why i got it).
As for backpacks Personally i have been looking at the Lowepro fastpack 250 and computrecker AW as i would also like to carry my 13" Macbook with me.

Do you expect heavy rain, or just rain? Then I would recommend any Lowepro bag that has an AW cover. Just a quick tip.

Hi guys
as i said in a earlier post i have just acquired the D90.
this week i am going to photograph a half marathon and would like some ideas on what settings to use.
i am not a total newbie to photography but this is my first DSLR should i just use sports mode until i learn a bit more about the camera.

Firstly, what lenses do you have, and how far away are you going to be from the runners? If its just by the side, the 18-55 and anything longer will do nicely.

Assuming its also during the day, set it to Aperture Priority and (depending on the light) ~f8, unless you need to get a shallow depth of field to separate the runners.

After that its just a matter of getting the focus correct.
