Some bird shots taken with the Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 and the D300. Post-editing limited to cropping and very mild sharpening (photos 1 & 3).

Hi Ant,

Duly added to the Index. Lovely shots all but, for me, that first one's superb. 8)

Bob.

Thanks Bob. Yeah, that's my favourite also... :) I'll add more as they come through. And hopefully others will contribute too.

The best 70-200 F/2.8 alive is speaking for itself when it comes down to samples. :) Amazing details, simply amazing.

(My God this lens is expensive!...)

Some more feathered kind in flight. Not the most exciting subjects, I know, but this is about the lens. As with the other pics, post-processing is limited to cropping and very mild sharpening.

Amazing Images,Ant.
What shutter speeds did you use?

And how do you find the VR at 200mm?

Thankyou.

Thanks TZ2, and sorry for the long delay in answering, I have been away for a while...

I don't remember exactly what shutter speeds I used for these shots, but I know I went for something around 1500th of a second to make sure. It was a sunny day, so there was no need to compromise.

The VR is really effective at 200mm. You can see the image stabilising as you half-press the shutter, and there's a marked difference. Is it worth the AUD$1000 price difference with the cheaper, non-VR Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8? That's a harder question... :)
