Wasn't sure what category to put this under so will do it here to be safe.

I'm looking for a video camera, now doesn't have to be super high quality. Infared would be a bonus. Wireless would be ideal.

I'm looking at sticking it in a ~260deg celcius oven. Now how crazy am I with this idea? And can anyone point me somewhere EG Forums or something if everyones baffled here Razz

Appreciate the help.

cheers
-Antony

Hi Anthony,

So you want to stick a video camera in a 260°C oven. Shocked

Quite apart from melting any plastic and frying, sorry, baking the electronics you'll also do interesting things to the battery. If it wasn't potentially dangerous due to risk of an explosion and the release of toxic chemicals I'd suggest putting a fully charged camera battery in that oven as a cheap way to verify what I suspect would happen. But it will almost certainly be dangerous so don't do it. Exclamation

But why not use an oven with a good quality glass door and set up the camera outside. Confused

Bob.

Haha yeah thought that. Thought maybe there was a protective casing or something. Might have to live with having it outside.

This is for a pizza shop I'm running. We have quite a strong online following and a spare 42" 1080p LCD up front so was gonna have a live oven cam so people can get a quick look at there pizza cooking =)

they are two massive stone pizza ovens that are at 500deg far.

Appretiate the help.

That's a brilliant idea! I'd stick it outside the oven (or maybe use a wideangle lens and mount it in a corner of the kitchen). I think pizza chef's are great at tossing up a pizza and making it round, that's always enjoyable to watch. Smile

I think you'd be looking at a camera meant for monitoring industrial equipment.

I suspect they cost about as much as a pizza oven too Smile

Haha.

Yeah I saw the 4000deg one and didn't want to bother looking at a price haha.

I was thinking even a webcam with an extension could work. Can you get wide angle webcams? Haha

Most of the wireless cameras I can find are IP ones.

Even if I get a wireless I'm still going to need to run a cable for its power Razz

Seems like a very cool idea! I have no clue as to what camera you'd want to buy, but wanna wish best of luck finding one! Be sure to upload a short clip for us all to watch!

Great idea, love it! Laughing

Haha thanks.

I'm currently trying to find software that will do slideshow (Like Powerpoint or all the other slideshow software out there), but will let me have a live webcam feed in it as well.

Hard to find Sad

Haha cool video. Afraid our ovens are on 24/7 so I can't give that a try Sad

Will give you guys some pictures to show you the location I'm working with =)

(These are two 42" Sony 1080p LCDS)

So I was thinking maybe a wireless camera streaming live on web, as well as maybe a small box on display, or a whole slide.

LCD on left is just doing menu. Where as one on right is just currently using TVs USB feature and running slideshot. I have a PC waiting that I will be placing on top shelf behind TVs. (For slideshow and live feed).

Was thinking live feed looking in ovens from outside, or a pizza making bench =)
