Hi everyone, Youtube finally accepted my huge video file after 10 attempts over the past few days, so if you've not already seen my video tour in HD on vimeo, check out:

http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Nikon ... view.shtml

Oh, and if you've watched both and think something's a little different, you're not going mad - I had to edit out about 3 minutes worth of footage to produce a smaller file which YT could accept. I also re-recorded the video narration which now includes notes on video length and AF.

PS - typo corrected Jerry, thanks!

wow it's 'only' £1,248 at jessops now. £250 drop in 3 months so if it keeps dropping at that rate I will get it for £248 twelve months from now :P

warehouse express is currently selling at £1,218, it seems to drop on a weekly basis

I went to the store to have a look on it. Its body feel identically the same as D300, the Four Way joystick taken from D700 looks very nice to have but its construction somewhat feel cheap though.

A review on ephotozine shows D300s performs much better noise control at ISO 6400 than D300. Did anyone here has experimented this?

I want to upgrade from D200 to a new model since I usually shoot at night and I need at least ISO 3200 to work great for me.

Other than HD video, 7fps and dual card slot which other feature is different than D300?

Yeah those two shots show a clear advantage at least in sharpness for the D300s. But honestly, something is totally off with the sharpness D300 shot and I can't believe that internal noise-reduction was responsible for this.
So I'm not convinced. I've also read no other comments to the same effect. And Nikon was not bragging about a new and improved sensor. So the consensus that I took from surfing was that the sensors are the same. So only processing yould be responsible for any differences. But you should be able to emulate that in RAW-processing.
Unfortunately DXOmark is not out yet with a test...

Isn't the D300s sensor the same (or a variant) as the D90 sensor? Its not just a software change that allows it to shoot video. This would explain the better ISO performance over the D300 and the ISO performance similarities between the D90 and D300s, just my 2c.

Welcome to the forums!

Is this your first SLR, or have you had some experience with film?
