So, I wasn't sure where exactly to post this, but this forum looked like it would probably fit the best. As someone who has done photography (fairly seriously) in the past, but haven't for quite a while, and is also planning on getting their first DSLR in the very near future, I thought it might be helpful to perhaps have a "Beginners Guide to DSLR Accessories" type of post.

What I'm thinking is a list of things that people here think are 1) necessary 2) nice to have or 3) aren't really needed.

I'd love to see a comprehensive listing of peoples recommendations for these things. Or, perhaps since there are forums for that already, maybe a guide that outlines the things that everybody should have. I did see the "DSLR accessories buyer's guide", but it didn't really help in so far as letting new (or newer) owners understand what you should look for in things like filters and tripods.

Anyway, just a thought on something that could be very helpful to some of us :)

Hi Stig,

Good idea. As a starter check out Gordon's DSLR accessories and photography gifts feature.

Bob.

I have some free time (extended weekend), maybe I'll write something up.
Still gotta do that monopod review though, but it's in my cue :p

That would be great. Looking forward to seeing it whenever you get the chance!
