Hmm... Is this history in terms of culture? Or where the history of where we live? Or just history in general? _________________ My deviantART page =)

This was posted in the other thread so may help define "history".
| zazu wrote: | Hello everyone
I taught about something for the theme for the November Assignment! I would like to make some History! Everyone in the world have a great History in our countries. I think it will be great to hear about different Histories! In photographic term I mean shots of monuments old churches old museums etc!!! It will also be nice to write a few lines about that place, church etc...
Good Luck To All

Is this supposed to be cultural based? Sorry, the text is a bit hard to comprehend. _________________ My deviantART page =)

What do you mean by culturally based? I would say that the assignment is to make pictures of places that breath history: through objects or buidlings. I have the impression that its indeed not about natural history if that's what you mean. So I guess you could photograph a landscape as long as it has a windmill or something rather But perhaps the winner can clearify this once and for all. _________________ canon SX10 IS

Hello I'm sorry for the hassle caused ! Here at Malta everywere we go we have history for the place we are in! I mean if I go to Valletta and just take a photo of the city gate that's more than history to us Maltese citizens as the same for Imdina the older capital aka as the silent city! Here between Malta & Gozo we have around 68 localities all with great histories! _________________ OLYMPUS E-520

Hello everyone,
my first post on Cameralabs forum
About assignment:
1. things that we photograph needs to be "historically beautiful" (Art) or they can be "tragic history" (scenes from some unpleasant events, war etc.)? I hope you understood what I meant
2. does recent history counts too? (like, 10 years ago) |

Hi weazel,
May I offer you a warm welcome to the CameraLabs forum.
I don't believe we need to set any boundaries on entries except being on-topic and complying with our "family friendly" forum rules.

Hi folks,
Other members will interpret this month's assignment as they wish but my own feeling is that "History" doesn't need to be defined in photographic terms as monumental architecture, especially for those who don't have access to such.
The challenge will be to communicate photographically something relevant but zazu has allowed us to add a few lines of text explaining context. So, for SolarSanction, even in California there are options when you think back to the Gold Rush and the rail-roads, not to mention the much longer history of the original indigenous population.
Maybe a "landscape" is pushing things too far, though, which means if I'm going to enter this month I'm going to have to step outside my comfort zone. Perhaps that's a good thing.

Thanks for a warm welcome Bob!
I'll read forum rules before entering this months assignment, although your last post gave me the answer.
Good luck (light) everyone |
