Le Salon de la Photographie is the annual photo fair in Paris.


The Pentax stand is huge in black and red, with pom-pom girls showing up every 30 minutes The K-7, K-x and K-m are the main attractions. Staff provides a warm and friendly welcome and are true photo lovers. So I really enjoyed my visit. The dancing girls give me the perfect opportunity to test the K-7 AF speed, one weak point on my K10D.

Now, the news!

• A full frame is on the pipe. Pro photographers are asking for a date: "End of 2010 is too late, they said, we want it at Q1 2010 or I'm going to change for a Canon or a Nikon."
• No one knows the fate of the SDM teleconverter: canceled, postponed ?
• The Pentax K-7 is sold at EUR 1,000 (20% VAT included), so I get one

Hmm... This is interesting. Thanks for the update, rei. I think many Pentaxians are dying to see a full frame camera, so I'll be intrigued to see if they deliver, of if it gets delayed again and again like the DA* 60-250mm was.

Shame about the teleconverter, as I could really make use of one.

Any word on lenses? Pentax fails at having a longer, affordable telephoto, like Canon's 100-400mm L lens or Nikon's 80-400mm. This frustrates me greatly, as I want a sharp, fast tele lens that will actually get me some reach... and Pentax has nothing there.
